Biotope types in the state of Bremen For the reorganization of the landscape programme Bremen, part of Bremen, a comprehensive data set of the biotopes for the municipality of Bremen was generated, using available data of different ages and different mapping methods. As part of the Integrated Recording Programme (IEP) of the Senatorial Environment Agency Bremen, area-based biotope type mapping has been carried out at regular intervals and for defined sub-areas in the state of Bremen since 2004 in accordance with a uniform methodology. Indoors, the data were supplemented by the real-use mapping of the built-up areas in the urban area of Bremen (GFL 2009, Polygonis 2010). A comprehensive data set was also generated for the reorganization of the Bremerhaven landscape programmes (SKUMS 2020). The biotopes are classified according to the mapping key for biotope types in Bremen (SKUMS 2022). The content of the mapping key is largely identical to the mapping key for biotope types in Lower Saxony (DRACHENFELS 2021). A detailed subdivision was made in Bremen for the trench biotopes, which are of particular importance for nature conservation in the marsh landscapes. In the case of the marsh trenches (biotope type FGM), 11 subtypes are differentiated here. The surveys are carried out on a scale of 1:5000 on the basis of the topographic map DGK 5/AB 5. Habitat types in accordance with the "Notes on the definition and mapping of habitat types of Annex 1 to the Habitats Directive in Lower Saxony" (DRACHENFELS 2007) and protected biotopes in accordance with Section 30 of the Federal Nature Conservation Act are also recorded.
