To demonstrate how abundant bacteria inhabiting the individual leaves modulate the leaves growth in maize, we isolated individual bacterial strains from roots and shoots of 12 Zea Mays plants at V4 stage grown in two nutrient scarce natural soils and one nutrient-rich soil. Then, we designed a 210-bacterial members synthetic community using the individual bacterial strains. To fully characterise the bacterial strains used in the synthetic community, we sequenced the whole genomes of the individual bacterial isolates selected.
