Exploration strategies influence visual-auditory sensory substitution in a passive guidance setup

This dataset contains perceptual performance and exploration strategy data from a study investigating the influence of passive guidance strategies on shape perception using a sensory substitution device (SSD). The dataset includes: Perceptual Performance Data – Shape recognition rates and confidence levels of participants across four training sessions. Each participant’s performance is recorded per session, providing insight into perceptual improvements over time. Example Participant Drawings – A detailed example of one participant’s shape recognition performance across the four sessions, illustrating how perceptual accuracy was quantified through drawings. Exploration Strategies in Session 4 – Data on the strategies applied by each participant during the eight trials of the final session, where they explored shapes actively after passive training.
