This deposit holds the cleaned data panels and the analysis code underlying the manuscript "Institutional Time Gates the Climate Response in Seasonal Tourist Adaptation", submitted to Weather, Climate, and Society. The study pairs 48,908 geo-tagged multi-city travel itineraries across China (2012-2019) with a city-month climate panel to separate two seasonality triggers that research usually reads off the same calendar: thermal stress at the destination a tourist actually visits, and institutional time, meaning the length of the public holiday a trip falls in. Measuring climate at the destination rather than inferring it from the month reverses the headline behavioral finding. Institutional time, not climate, drives how far tourists range, and an anomalous thermal signal reorganizes an itinerary only when a long holiday supplies the slack to act on it. Contents: 13 analysis scripts and 13 cleaned panel files, 11 MB. The README maps every table and figure in the manuscript to the script that regenerates it, and documents the reproducibility caveats. Climate sources: monthly temperature and hot- and cold-day counts aggregated from NOAA Integrated Surface Database (ISD-Lite) station observations for Chinese stations; relative humidity and precipitation from the China Meteorological Administration's Daily Surface Climate Data of China (V3.0). Not included: the third-party raw itinerary corpus, separately published by Zheng et al. (2026) at https://doi.org/10.6084/m9.figshare.30184726, which is needed to rerun the full pipeline. The panels carry no names, free text, sub-city coordinates, or account information. Analysis code is released under the MIT Licence; derived data files under CC BY 4.0.
