Retina from normal, diabetic, and insulin-treated diabetic animals (diabetic+insulin) were processed as described in Methods. Activity of glycogen synthase was measured in the presence of 6.2 mM glucose-6-phosphate. Activity of glycogen phosphorylase was measured in the presence of 1 mM AMP. Activities are expressed as nmol/mg protein/min. Values are the means ± SEM from 5 to 8 rats.
*p<0.01 with respect to the normal rats.
