studies of microbial diversity in lake sediments

The main study goal is: 1) understand the composition and the variation of the microbial in lake sediments across depth and times; 2) whether the bacteria and archaeal community composition is different among the different layers of the sediments; 3) identify the possible geochemical factors that control the distribution of microbial compositions and their interactions; 4) evaluate the impact of human activities and climate change on microbial composition.
