近年來常有報導指出長期置身於密閉性的建築物內時,出現頭痛,呼吸道乾燥,嗜睡,無法專心的症狀,流行病學稱之為「病態建築症候群」因之,在室內擺放綠色植物來改善生活環境,減少壓力,降低落塵量及空氣中有機溶劑濃度等,根據目前研究結果來看,耐蔭性良好之原生植物,其主要機制要決定於氣孔關閉的多少與時間,低光下光合作用能力的高低並非唯一之條件。目前以這樣的條件來看,珊瑚樹幼齡樹及小葉赤楠(金門種)兩種植種,具發展的潛力。四葉蓮及呂宋莢蒾可以以種子森林的形式,以小型盆栽提供個人裝飾之用。根據耐蔭性試驗顯示,蘭嶼八角金盤耐蔭性不良,但耐旱能力較佳可育成較大型盆栽,於較佳照明區域使用,多數紫金牛屬植物能耐較低光量—約全日照光量的10%,鐵雨傘較高—約全日照光量的30%,但耐旱能力較差,以小型盆栽發展為主,室內生長耐受性以珊瑚樹最佳,四葉蓮次之。桃葉珊瑚用種子繁殖能比較省工省資本投入,2節帶葉扦插比較能得到均一大量的苗木。 The results of plants shading experment reveal the plants photosynthesis capacity under low light enviropment won't be the only parameter for plants to adaptation under low light environment. According to the shading experiment result reaveal the LANYUE Fatsia can not tolerant shading enviropment but can tolerant dryenviropment, Most Ardisia genus plants can tolerant shading enviropment- 10%sunlight, but cann't tolerant dry enviropment,The indoor cultural test reveal the Viburnum odoratissimum are the best choose.By using the shading capacity, propagation mathods and scapy capacity it trade off the dwarf bonsai are Chloranthus oldhagmii and the taller bonsai plants are Viburnum odoratissimum.
