Metagenomic of two-stages anaerobic digestion of crude glycerol

The recovery of crude glycerol generated by the biodiesel industry was investigated through two-stage anaerobic digestion (AD). In stage I - fermentative, hydrogen production was studied with Bacillus amyloliquefaciens (BA) from 3% glycerol medium. In stage II - methanogenic (BA-FB) used BA fermentation broth and a microbial consortium for methane (CH4) production at different inoculum-to-substrate ratios (ISR - 2:1, 3:1, and 4:1). Crude glycerol was also evaluated in single-stage DA for methane production in the same ISR.
