VPRS 19754 Daily Adoption Discharge and Hearings Books

This series comprises the daily discharge register of children to be adopted from the Royal Women’s Hospital (VA 1241). Included in the back of each volume is a list of adoption hearings for each child. Information recorded in the volumes includes the date of the discharge, the child’s identifying number, adoption applicant’s name, child’s name, witness details, the age category and sex of the child and the date of adoption hearing. Also included are headings titled “F/U” and “In Office”, although the use of these fields is unknown. Information regarding the hearings includes the date, surname of applicant, age range of the child and sex of the child. From August 1978 more specific information is recorded for each hearing including the court’s case file number, judge, child’s birth name and legal remarks. These volumes also contain statistical totals to aid reporting.
