VPRS 1170 Special Correspondence Files

This series consists of correspondence files, the contents of which were registered in VPRS 10374 Register of Inward and Outward Correspondence.The reason why the records in this series were transferred to PROV as a separate series to the correspondence files in VPRS 1163 Inward Correspondence Files, and registered with the series title Special Files is not known.However, a small sample of correspondence files were all found to have been classified in VPRS 10374 as Premier, Cabinet Decisions, Office Files (the registers are self-indexing by subject see the series text for VPRS 10374 for more information). It is possible that the records in VPRS 1170 were separated from other correspondence files on the assessment that they contained sensitive subject matter.This series was previously registered with the title Special Files.
