The contents of this volume provide a summary of the unemployment relief works completed in Victoria during the Depression of the 1930s using funds raised independently by both the State and from the Commonwealth. Relevant legislation is the Unemployment Relief Works (Commonwealth and States) Act, 1932 and the Unemployment Relief (Taxation) Act, 1932 and the Unemployment Relief Tax (Assessment) Act, 1932. Colour coding of entries in this record is done to show whether the source of funds for works was Victorian Relief Taxation, the Commonwealth / State Joint Loan Fund, the National Recovery Loan or Commonwealth Grants Nos 1 and 2 of 1934 1935.Details are entered of the locality and the nature of the work undertaken, the estimated cost, details of the funding (Government and Local; the source Fund and whether the Government contribution was a Loan, Subsidy or Grant) and the number of men to be employed and for what duration.
