Strain 08RB3647 was isolated from a human patient in Germany in 2008. Compared to B. suis bv. 5 reference strain 513, 08RB3647 exhibited a 126 bp deletion in the BMEI0205-like locus which is a target in Suis-ladder PCR for differentiation of B. suis biovars, prohibiting the correct PCR-based identification.
