QUIRMIA is an algorithm to infer molecular resistance mechanisms for quinolones in Escherichia coli from phenotypic antibiotic resistance testing data, i.e. inhibition zone diameters of nalidixic acid and norfloxacin. The algorithm allows for coherent phenotype/classification and the differentiation of wildtype, low-level resistant and high-level resistant strains.
