Dynamical Research Empirical Atmospheric Model (DREAM) monthly precipitation for January-May 2024

These NetCDF files contain monthly precipitation data from two DREAM model experiments used in the manuscript, “Exceptionally Warm Event in the Tropical South Atlantic in 2023-24: Physical Drivers and Impacts on South American Rainfall”, published in Journal of Geophysical Research: Oceans. All simulations are based on 38-member ensemble means for the January-May and are initialized on January 1 of each year using the ERA-Interim (ERAi) dataset for the period 1979-2016. dreamT31L15_dssta_monthly_202401_ppt.nc: Monthly precipitation for January-May 2024, forced by weekly SST anomalies observed during the same period. dreamT31L15_dssta_notsa_monthly_202401_ppt.nc: Monthly precipitation for January-May 2024, forced by weekly SST anomalies as above, but with the anomaly set to zero in the tropical South Atlantic, effectively excluding that region’s influence. dreamT31L15_dssta_monthly_198201_202012_ppt_EM.nc: Ensemble mean of monthly precipitation for January–May 1982-2020. This simulation is forced by weekly SST anomalies from OISST over the global tropics (30°N-30°S). These data are used as the climatological reference for anomaly calculations.
