Whole Genome Sequencing of MDR and XDR Mycobacterium tuberculosis in Myanmar

Development of multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) is a serious obstacle in fighting against TB. In Myanmar, treatment of MDR-TB is intended to approach new drugs regime instead of using SLIDs, but the primary resistant status of new drugs like bedaquiline, delamanid and linezolid are yet to be known. Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS) allows simultaneous identification of all known resistance mutations. It also provides a rapid diagnosis of resistance to new anti-TB drugs as there is no standard phenotypic drug susceptibility test for those drugs.
