Kabatiella zeae (Narita et Hiratsuka) is the causative pathogen of corn eyespot disease, which is an important leaf disease that damages the corn (Zea mays L.) worldwide. Corn eyespot disease have recently attracted the attention of researchers because of its increasing damage in certain corn-growing areas. However, there is currently no information about the genome of K. zeae, which limits the research and prevention of corn eyespot disease. The emergence of new whole-genome sequencing technologies provides conditions for high-quality genome assembly of important pathogenic fungi. Here, we use PacBio sequencing technology to provide the first draft of the genome assembly of K.zeae and its genome characteristics, which will help future research on the pathogenic mechanism of this fungus and the prevention of corn eyespot disease
