Additional file 1 Faecal consistency score of every individual on each sampling day. IB and IC were infected for 3 consecutive days (D0–D2), with 100,000 sporulated Eimeria oocysts. IB was treated with spruce bark extract for 12 consecutive days (D0–D11). IC and SC were given the equivalent amount of tap water. SC was not sampled on D10–D19.
