This dataset contains magnetic measurements and trace metal concentrations from 72 soil horizons collected from representative soil profiles in Louisiana, USA. The data were generated to examine relationships between pedogenic iron cycling, soil magnetic properties, and the vertical distribution of trace metals in native soils developed under humid subtropical conditions. Samples were collected from multiple USDA soil series representing different parent materials and geomorphic settings. For each horizon, the dataset includes soil series, horizon designation, and depth interval. Magnetic parameters were measured to characterize ferrimagnetic mineral concentrations associated with pedogenic iron oxides, and trace element concentrations were determined using X-ray fluorescence (XRF). The dataset includes magnetic properties together with concentrations of Fe and selected trace metals (Cr, Cu, Zn, As, and Pb), enabling analysis of relationships between pedogenic Fe accumulation and trace metal retention within soil profiles.
