Indigofera tinctoria L. leaf powder promote indigo reduction

A water-insoluble indigo is solubilized by the reducing action of microorganisms has been performed in indigo fermentation. In the natural indigo fermentation, sukumo, composted leaves of Polygonum tinctorium L., is the raw material has been used as the indigo source and the bacterial seeds in successive fermentation in Japan. It is desirable that the reduction of indigo occurs in the short periods after the preparation of the fermentation liquid. The period largely depends on the quality of the sukumo, the methods for preparation and management of the fermentation liquid. Our study found that Indigofera tinctoria L. leaf powder promote indigo reduction. In this project, we try to find the reason why leaf powder promotes the reduction.
