The IKMC web portal served as the central public web site for data and resources from the International Knockout Mouse Consortium (IKMC). The primary objective of the IKMC was to mutate all protein-coding genes in the mouse using a combination of gene targeting and gene trapping in mouse embryonic stem (ES) cells. As the International Mouse Phenotype Consortium (IMPC) proceeded with the generation and phenotypic characterization of mutant mice derived from these ES cells, the data and tools developed for the IKMC web portal were transferred to the IMPC.
