Environmental isolation of Candida auris from the coastal wetlands of Andaman Islands, India

Candida auris has emerged as a multidrug-resistant pathogen gaining global recognition as a serious health threat. C. auris related members of Metschnikowia family have been detected in different environmental habitats. The detection of C. auris in the natural environment has neither been detected nor explored. The goal of the present study is to explore the environmental niches of C. auris in the marine environment encompassing coastal wetlands including rock shores, tidal marshes, and mangrove swamps of the Andaman Islands, Union territory of India.
