The present work aims to perform a comparative characterization of repeatomes of Salvia officinalis L. and Salvia sclarea L., which includes high throughput DNA sequencing with low coverage, genome-wide bioinformatic analyses by RepeatExplorer pipelines, FISH chromosome mapping of the identified specific satDNAs and also searching new important molecular chromosome markers, to provide information about the changes occurred in their genomes during speciation.
