This paper assesses the cyclical premium in the Russian electric power sector. The paper provides a review of studies on the evaluation of the premium for positioning in a particular sector of the economy, depending on a particular business cycle. In the course of the analysis, the author comes to the conclusion that Russian electric power companies with positioning in the electricity market provide an opportunity to obtain excess profitability during periods of recession in the Russian economy.
