GRDI-EcoBiomics

EcoBiomics Shared Project focuses on the urgent need to better understand the extent and significance of ongoing changes to microbial and invertebrate biodiversity in the soil and aquatic ecosystems that sustain the essential ecosystem services upon which Canadians and our economy depend. Land use disturbances are having an enormous adverse impact on soil and aquatic biodiversity and the integrity of natural and managed ecosystems across Canada, and around the world. By the year 2100, land use disturbances have been projected to have the largest global impact on biodiversity, followed by climate change, nutrient deposition, and species introductions (Chapin et al. 2000).Le projet partagé EcoBiomics met l'accent sur le besoin urgent de mieux comprendre la portée et l'importance des changements au sein de la biodiversité microbienne et d' invertébrés des sols et des écosystèmes aquatiques qui soutiennent les services écosystémiques essentiels pour les Canadiens et dont économie dépendent. Les perturbations des terres ont un impact négatif énorme sur le sol et la biodiversité aquatique, ainsi que sur l'intégrité des écosystèmes à travers le Canada, et partout dans le monde. D'ici l'an 2100, les perturbations des terres pourrait avoir un impact mondial énorme sur la biodiversité, suivie par le changement climatique, le dépôt d'éléments nutritifs, et l'introduction d'espèces invasives.
