Stenotrophomonas pavanii JWG-G1 is a PET-degrading bacterium that utilizes PET as its sole carbon source. Based on the excellent performance of biofilms in degrading plastics, strain JWG-G1, which has a strong ability to form a biofilm, was creatively applied as a biological pretreatment method in the process of PET degradation. We may know which genes play a role in plastic degradation through genomic analysis of this bacterium .
