2024 US iNaturalist Observations and PADUS Protected Area Polygons: Full Points, Park Boundaries, and Park-Filtered Observations

This dataset supports the analysis of park co-visitation connectivity across the United States using 2024 iNaturalist citizen science observations and the Protected Areas Database of the United States (PAD-US). Three files are included: 2024_ina_us.csv (14.20 GB): The complete 2024 iNaturalist observation dataset for the contiguous United States, including both research-grade and needs-ID records. Each row represents one wildlife or biodiversity observation, with fields including user ID, observation date, species name, taxonomic group, quality grade, and geographic coordinates etc. The data was downloaded from iNaturalist official website mananuly by defining the time that covers 2024 whole year and combined from hundreds of csv pieces. us_park_padus.zip (165.44 MB): Park boundary polygons derived from PAD-US, filtered to protected areas whose unit name contains the term "Park" Includes administrative classification fields (city, county, state, federal, and national park) and park centroids used in the co-visitation analysis. points_in_park_clean.csv (567.25 MB) — Cleaned and processed iNaturalist observations spatially joined to PAD-US park boundaries. Each record includes the observation details, matched park unit name, park administrative level, state, county, population within a 10 km buffer, and a unique ParkID constructed from state, county, and park name to ensure geographic uniqueness.
