Onchocerca flexuosa worms were harvested from wild deer (Cervus elaphus) in northern Germany (Schleswig-Holstein) in December of 2009. As the worms were wild caught, they represent a mixed population. Onchocerca worms reside in nodules in the host dermis. It is likely that the samples were dominated by adult females, but some males and larval stage worms were also present. 1.5 runs were performed on the 454 sequencer using titanium chemistry. Reads were assembled into 25,222 isotigs using Newbler's cDNA option.
