Halobacteriovorax is halophilic genus of the obligate bacterial predators, Bdellovibrio and like organisms (BALOs). The 16S rDNA sequence of HLS is 98.1% identical to that of Halobacteriovorax marinus SJ(T), followed by Halobacteriovorax litoralis JS5(T)(92.54%), which indicates that strain HLS might belong to Halobacteriovorax marinus.This is the first genome sequence of the species publicly available.
