DATASET FOR STUDY: Enhanced paper grip test for foot strength assessment in healthy young adults: test-retest reliability and comparison with handgrip test

This is the raw dataset for the study that assessed the reliability of the Enhanced Paper Grip Test (EPGT), a simple and efficient tool for evaluating foot strength, and its correlation with the handgrip test in healthy young adults. Twenty-one participants healthy young completed two sessions 10–14 days apart. EPGT demonstrated good to excellent test-retest reliability (ICC=0.92 right, 0.90 left) but showed lower absolute reliability, with coefficients of variation (CVs) ranging from 8.2% to 15.3%. The handgrip test exhibited excellent reliability (ICC=0.99 right, 0.98 left) and superior consistency (CVs=3.1–4.2%). Inter-limb asymmetry reliability was moderate to excellent for both tests (ICC=0.82–0.83). Moderate correlations were observed between EPGT and handgrip strength (r=0.47–0.56). EPGT’s simplicity and ability to assess foot strength make it a valuable tool, though further research is needed to improve its absolute reliability and applicability in different age groups and patient populations.
