Carabid beetles were collected from the end of May to the end of July and from mid-September to the end of October in 2007 in Croatia, and from mid-June to the end of July and in October in 2010 in Wales, UK. DNA was extracted from the beetle foregut for diet analyses. Six primer pairs were used to screen the gut contents of 317 field-caught carabid beetles for earthworms, slugs, woodlice and springtails.
