## **Abstract** \n\nThis dataset and its metadata statement were supplied to the Bioregional Assessment Programme by a third party and are presented here as originally supplied.\n\nThis dataset details the declared Indigenous Protected Areas (IPA) across South Australia through the implementation of the Indigenous Protected Areas Programme. The IPA Programme is part of the National Reserve System (NRS) Programme which aims to establish a network of protected areas which include a representative sample of all types of ecosystems across the country. Through this program, Indigenous landowners are being supported to manage their lands for the protection of natural and cultural features in accordance with internationally recognised standards and guidelines for the benefit of all Australians. The IPA Programme and NRS Programme are part of the Australian Government's Natural Heritage Trust. More information can be found from the following website; http://www.deh.gov.au/indigenous/ipa\n\n## **Purpose** \n\nThis dataset can be used to show the locations of Indigenous Protected Areas for conservation purposes.\n\n## **Dataset History** \n\nThrough the IPA Programme, as new declarations are made ERIN has continued to produce spatial boundaries of all IPA's. In 2006 ERIN updated the IPA datasets to comply with the Collaborative Australian Protected Areas Database (CAPAD) as IPA's are included in CAPAD. This included modification of the spatial data to remove discrepancies as well as an attribute review for accuracy and completeness. This was undertaken through expert advice from the IPA Programme staff. Yalata, Mt Willoughby and Nantawarrina Protected Areas are based on the DCDB.
