The venom and venom gland of C. d. terrificus were in-depth analyzed by cutting-edge "omics" technologies (next generating sequencing and high-resolution mass spectrometry).

The mRNA extracted from Crotalus durissus terrficus (Cdt) venom gland was sequenced on Illumina 2500 HiSeq platform and the data were de novo assembled using Trinity software and annotated with Diamond aligner. The Cdt venom was analyzed in a Q Exactive™ Plus mass spectrometer and the data from both datasets (venom gland and venom) were integrated using Peaks 7 software.
