Previous studies have found that metal-doped carbon aerogels can effectively catalyze the thermal decomposition behavior of ammonium perchlorate (AP). In this study, a kind of carbon aerogel catalyst doped with Mn and Co was prepared by the bimetallic MOF (HMOF) precursor method through the key steps of gel and carbonization, and its thermal catalytic mechanism for AP was studied in detail. The results showed that Mn/Co@C aerogels had better catalytic performance than the monometal-doped carbon catalyst. When the addition amount was 2%, the heating rate was 10 °C/min, the decomposition peak temperature of AP was advanced by about 115 °C, and the thermal decomposition activation energy was reduced to 147 kJ·mol–1.
