PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a white paperboard and a coated white paperboard having good appearance despite inclusion of a used paper pulp in a surface layer of the white paperboard. SOLUTION: There is provided a white paperboard [1] produced by multilayer papermaking and having the surface and middle layers. The surface layer includes a deinked pulp obtained from a used paper as a raw material， and the ERIC value of the surface layer is in the range of 10 to 60. The number of pieces of dust having a size of 0.01 mm 2 or more but less than 0.05 mm2 on the surface layer in plan view is in a range of 0 to 40，000/m2， and that of the dust of 0.05 mm2 or more but less than 2 mm2 is in the range of 0 to 4，000/m2. Besides， there is provided a coated white paperboard [2] in which a pigment coating layer is provided on at least one surface of the above white paperboard.SELECTED DRAWING: None
