Gene expression analysis of hyper active mutant SPORTS rat [brain]

To get insight into the genetic characteristics of hyper active mutant line of rat, SPORTS, we compared gene expression profiles of the sedentary SPORTS rat and the sedentary wild type rat. Using RNA extracted from the brain of these rats, we performed microarray analysis. Subsequent GO analyses revealed that genes belonging to norepinephrine synthetic pathway and coagulation were upreguated. These results were consistent with phenotypes, such as hyper activity and thrombotic tendency, which were reported for SPORTS rat.为深入解析大鼠高活动突变株SPORTS的遗传特征，本研究对比了久坐状态下SPORTS大鼠与野生型对照大鼠的基因表达谱。我们提取两组大鼠脑组织的RNA，开展了微阵列（microarray）分析。后续的基因本体（Gene Ontology，GO）分析显示，去甲肾上腺素合成通路相关基因与凝血相关基因均呈现上调表达。上述结果与此前报道的SPORTS大鼠表型——高活动能力与血栓形成倾向——高度一致。
