资源简介:
Twenty pollen and ten phytolith samples were selected for analysis from
a variety of proveniences within Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. The sites
tested were near the coast and include Wahaula A-13, HV269, HV270, HV279,
HV280, HV286, HV287, HV287, and K32. Features examined include an afa
terrace, a burial, house sites, a canoe shed, a pahoehoe terrace, and a
refuse pit. This study is the first to focus on pollen and/or phytolith
recovery and interpretation from Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. The pur
pose of the study was to evaluate pollen and phytolith recovery and to
interpret both pollen and phytolith records to reconstruct local vegetation
at the time of occupation for these features.
