Mid Infrared Spectral Reference Library

This is CSIRO's first MIR (mid infrared) spectral library (MIR SRL 1.0) which comprises reflectance spectra (1300 - 16,700 nm) of 169 mineral samples. This suite of 169 spectra was selected from data from over 800 samples which were assessed for spectral purity and where available, mineralogical purity based on independate validation data. The resulting MIR SRL 1.0 collection comprises representatives from the following mineral groups: iron oxides (4), carbonates (10), sulfates (5), apatites (3), wolframates and scheelites (4), phenakites and olivines (4), garnets (6), Al2SiO5 polymorphs (4), sorosilicates including epidote, pumpellyite and vesuvianite (4), cyclosilicates including beryl and tourmaline (3), \npyroxenes (15), pyroxenoids (5), amphiboles (3), phyllosilicates including kaolin, serpentine, mica, pyrophyllite, talc, smectite, prehnite, petalite,\npalygorskite and sepiolite (64), quartz (3), feldspars (19), scapolites (3) and mixed mineral assemblages (4). \nLineage: The data was produced as a part of the AuScope NVCL project and the detailed methods are outlined in Pejcic et al., 2021.
