Data on Ukrainian War Refugees in Czechia (2022–2023)

This dataset contains original survey data collected among Ukrainian war refugees residing in Czechia in two waves conducted in 2022 and 2023. The data consist of two largely independent cross-sectional samples, with a small subset of respondents participating in both waves, forming a limited longitudinal component. The main thematic focus of the surveys concerned economic activity and return preferences, alongside a broader set of topics. The dataset has been utilised in the articles "Drivers of Return Plans Among Ukrainian War Refugees in Czechia: Challenging Common Assumptions and Refining the Theory", published in Population, Space and Place (https://doi.org/10.1002/psp.70177) and "A framework for understanding precarious economic incorporation of Ukrainian refugees in Central Eastern Europe", published in Comparative Migration Studies (https://doi.org/10.1186/s40878-026-00531-w) The data set was anonymized. The sample is not statistically representative. The surveys were designed by researchers from the Geomigration team, Department of Social Geography and Regional Development, Faculty of Science, Charles University in collaboration with the NGO Slovo 21 which contributed to the organization of data collection. Financial support for data collection was provided by the Ministry of the Interior of the Czech Republic and UNHCR. Data processing was supported by the project OP JAK CZ.02.01.01/00/23_025/0008717.
