These early public primary school Observation Books are pre-printed booklets, with a single page allocated for the inspector's report.  The report page is divided into the class years of primary school instruction, being from First class to Fifth class, and the approved subjects are listed for each class. If subjects are not taught or other subjects taught, these are written over the printed list - for example, instead of Grammar, the school may teach Dictation. This series also includes one book for the Infants school.The inside front page of each book is marked as complying with "Article 75 of the regulations of 29 November 1875".
