Lower Hunter Flood Disaster Recovery Project 1

The Project aims to restore habitat and biodiversity along the Paterson and Allyn Rivers with a focus on the Torryburn area (Gresford) and also the Kooragang Ramsar site. These were severely impacted in the April 2015 Storm event. Proposed activities include: clearing flood debris from sensitive riparian zones; clearing invasive weeds from flood affected river banks; preventing further erosion by replanting native species; and installing strategic fencing to control stock to ensure long term protection of river banks. Removal of invasive weed species will assist to restore habitat connectivity for native species located in the area and decrease the effects of fragmentation.
