Illumina MiSeq 16S rRNA sequencing to characterize the microbiome of a coastal upwelling system

Illumina amplicon sequencing of the 16S rRNA gene was carried out in DNA samples obtained from two stations in coastal Monterey Bay over a period of 2 years. This dataset aids in resolving the bacterial and archaeal ecology of the upper ocean waters in Monterey Bay both temporally and spatially - samples were collected monthly from up to 10 depths at each station, ranging from surface to 500m.
