Two batches of European sea bass juveniles, high growth selected (HG) and wildtype (WT) were fed a “future” diet, which represented our control diet, replacing totally FO by a combination of poultry and DHA-algae oil (PO) and 50% of FM by poultry meal (PM) until achieving the required initial experimental size. After the dietary acclimation period, fish were randomly distributed in 24 tanks and fed in triplicate with future diet (CTRL) or with future diet supplemented with three different functional additives for 12 weeks. The functional additives used were a probiotic mixture (PROB), organic acids mixture (ORG) and a phytogenic (PHYTO). At the end of feeding trial, six fish per diet/genotype were sampled for mucosa-associated microbiota (autochthonous microbiota) characterization.
