#Observa opinion polls: #---------------------- # #From 1967 and onwards Observa (from 1990 GfK Danmark) has carried out a number of opinion polls, i.e. surveys of attitudes and habits of life, partly through so-called political index polls (postal panel surveys) and partly through more extensive attitudinal surveys based on interviews. The political index polls have been carried out regularly in the period (approx. 10 times a year), whereas the attitudinal surveys have been carried out quarterly in the period 1969 to 1972. The current data collection of similar data material over a long period of time makes it possible to carry out various kinds of time series analyses, especially as regards party preference. #Other subjects are usually treated more superficially owing to the conditions under which the surveys are carried out (they are designed for publication in daily papers so the main emphasis has been put on topical issues, and only subjects which may be dealt with by means of a limited number of questions are included). #Until 1971 the political index polls were carried out for the daily paper Aktuelt; from 1972 for the daily paper Morgenavisen Jyllands-Posten. The attitudinal surveys have been carried out exclusively for Jyllands-Posten. # # #Observa Political Index Polls, 1992: #------------------------------------ #In 1992 GfK Danmark carried out 11 political index polls. All the questions from these surveys, together with a fixed set of recurring background variables, are found in DDA-1991: Observa Political Index Polls, 1992. In addition, the individual political index polls, which contain various questions on topical issues, are found in DDA-1992 to DDA-2002. # #This survey (DDA-1998 Observa Political Index Polls 1992: August) deals with the following topical issues: # #Party preference; prime minister preference; government preference; attitude to an increase of public expenditure in order to create more jobs; whether people who own owner-occupied dwellings ought to be allowed to take loans corresponding to the free mortgageable value; whether poverty is a serious social problem in Denmark; whether the coming tax negotiations will result in a lower personal tax; willingness to abstain from a wage increase if this may contribute to a strengthening of Denmark's competitive power and an increase in the number of jobs; attitude to a ban against support from trade organizations to political parties; attitude to a number of statements on the influence of the organizations on the political parties; the leading politician of the Radical Liberal Party; attitude to free hospital choice; whether it should be legal to sell the book 'Sidste udvej' (The Last Resort), which contains guidance and instructions as to how to commit suicide; assessment of Denmark in August 1982 versus August 1992 in a number of fields; attitude to the moral standard of members of Parliament, i.e. whether persons who perform various acts are suitable as members of Parliament; whether the Tamil case, the fee case and the AMBI-case ought to result in a general election; whether it is easier to be a Dane today than it was 10 years ago; whether it would have been better for Denmark's economy if we had had a Social Democratic government in the last decade; whether the Liberal Party or the Conservative People's Party has had the greatest influence on Danish politics within the last decade; and assessment of Poul Schlüter in a number of fields
