Images and Site Records from Archaeological Observation and Excavation adjacent to Primary School, School Road, Great Barton, Suffolk, 2021-2022

This collection comprises images and site records from a programme of Archaeological Observation on land Adjacent to Primary School, School Road, Great Barton, Suffolk in connection with the erection of a new dwelling and swimming pool. Work was carried out by Border Archaeology and comprised an archaeological observation (Plot 1) undertaken in September 2021 and archaeological excavation (Plot 2) undertaken between October and November 2022. Work indicated two phases of occupation on Plot 1; evidence for Romano-British activity and a second phase of activity dating from the Medieval to Post-medieval periods. The results from the excavation suggest that Plot 2 was situated on the outskirts of a rural settlement that was occupied between the late 1st and 3rd centuries AD
