Mitochondrial translation regulates fetal erythropoiesis.. Mus musculus

Mitochondrial tRNA translation optimization 1 (Mto1) is a mitochondrial tRNA modification enzyme which is essential for the mitochondrial protein translation. Hematopoietic-specific Mto1 conditional knockout (cKO) mice were embryonic lethal due to severe anemia. In this project, mRNA expression in polychromatic erythroblasts derived from Mto1 cKO mice was analyzed and compared with WT mice. Results provide insight into the role of Mto1 in fetal erythropoiesis.
