Number of ski and snowboard resorts in Japan 1996-2021

In 2021, there were 449 ski and snowboard resorts throughout Japan. The figures declined in the past two decades continuously. Hokkaido Prefecture, as well as some other prefectures on Japan's main island, such as Nagano Prefecture, are famous for their winter sport resorts.
