Development of the number of asylum applications in North Rhine-Westphalia

The dataset contains figures on asylum seekers in North Rhine-Westphalia after initial and subsequent applications. A first-time application for asylum occurs when a foreigner applies for asylum for the first time; a subsequent application for asylum, if a further application for asylum is made after the withdrawal or incontestable rejection of a previous application for asylum (cf. § 71 AsylG). A further asylum procedure is only to be carried out if there is a ground for resumption pursuant to Section 51(1) to (3) of the Administrative Procedure Act. A reason for reopening arises, for example, if the factual or legal situation on which the first decision is based has changed for the applicant.
