BUILDING A TRACEABLE PREMIUM HONEY EXPORT ECOSYSTEM FOR UZBEKISTAN: INTEGRATING SUSTAINABLE BEEKEEPING, BRAND STORYTELLING.

The apiculture sector in Uzbekistan has experienced significant quantitative growth, with national honey production reaching 31,500 tons in 2023 and total export revenues rising to USD 2,134,800 in 2024. However, the average yield per colony remains below 20 kg, and export realization is constrained by non-tariff trade barriers, insufficient quality standardization, and limited brand differentiation in international markets. This study formulates a comprehensive framework for building a traceable, premium honey export ecosystem in Uzbekistan. By integrating sustainable migratory beekeeping practices, rigorous laboratory-based authenticity verification (melissopalynology and isotope ratio mass spectrometry), digital batch-level supply chain traceability (QR code/blockchain architectures), and origin-based brand storytelling, Uzbekistan can transition from low-value bulk commodity exports to high-value premium markets. Empirical analysis of regional botanical profiles—including alpine floral zones in Zaamin and Bostanliq and desert ecosystems rich in Alhagi maurorum—demonstrates distinct physicochemical and organoleptic properties that support Geographical Indication (GI) registration. Implementation of smart apicultural management and end-to-end digital verification reduces colony winter mortality by 28% and unlocks premium export price margins ranging from USD 14.00 to USD 22.00 per kilogram in the European Union and Gulf Cooperation Council markets.
