Eileen Isabel JoyceEileen Joyce was seven years younger than her brother James. Too intelligent to become the family slavey, she followed her sister Eva to Trieste in 1910. Musical and witty, she had ambitions to become an opera singer. In 1914 she married Frantisek Schaurek, a Czech bank teller. They lived in Prague during the war and later in Trieste.Frank took his own life in 1926, and Eileen with her three children moved back to Ireland. She was Lucia's favourite aunt and often helped care for her. In Dublin Eileen visited her father occasionally, and after he died removed the books JJ had inscribed to him. Tim O'Neill
