Regulatory T-cells (Tregs) differentiate in the thymus. After selection, they migrate to the periphery where they exert their effector functions. In the thymus and in the spleen of Rag2-GFP transgenic mice, two populations of Treg are found: I. a GFP+ population (respectively, developing cells and recent thymic emigrants) II. a GFP- population (mature cells).
